2012 was... a big year for me..?
I really wanted to bite down on the bullet this year and get a more "professional" look in general. Things like school inspired me and forced me to think about things like presentation and composition, and in May, I did illustrations for my aunt's book. Just, so nervewracking - what could I possibly do that I wouldn't regret too much in the future? I think found the answer, and I left for home at the end of the month from five straight months of SCAD.
Summer vacation slowed down my work output, but I did get to mess around and sketch a few things here and there- the big thing for me was that I managed to spit out a digital painting that I was actually proud of. Of course, a little before two weeks into July, I applied and was accepted into Vios Terra, which made me do a lot more work digitally- drawing Necalli's app images really forced me to sit down and just work work work on something with SAI and Photoshop, rather than just scanning something in or doodling away in a program.
Another notable point is that I changed my deviantart name from Arget-Falco to vectorsmash. Things like being in chat really made me realize that I didn't want to be known as "Arget" by the general populace, and well then.. A vector is anything with magnitude and direction, and adding smash onto that sounded appropriately violent for me.
I went back to school a bit after a week into September and kept drawing for RP groups, most notably VT, of course. September though- I was so overwhelmed by several beautiful character applications that I wanted to do something a little out of the ordinary for mine as well. The fall season was really just me getting a good handle on drawing digitally, and experimenting with soft shading and some disastrous attempts and painting here and there.
And then December rolled around and here we are now.
...So yeah, I'd like to think that I improved, at least in some aspects. I'm just proud that I actually did manage to churn something out every month this year.
